This is my first time performing at the Fringe.

What do you think sets your show apart from all the other Festival offerings?

What sets this show apart? Wee Seals & Selkies is a rare performance for Janis is an author and storyteller, and in this show, she blends these two skills to bring her own books to life. Wee Seals & Selkies also gives the audience an insight into how books are made and how the wild and wonderful setting of living in a cottage by the sea in the far north of Scotland gave Janis the inspiration to write two books for children: The Wee Seal and The Selkie Girl.

The Centre’s Fringe showcase is exploring and reacting to the challenges we face in today’s world by sharing stories in all their forms – what is your show saying?

In terms of a deeper message my show is saying – care for the sea. Care for wildlife. Let’s protect our beautiful planet, especially the oceans. Both stories show how humans can befriend and help seals. We owe it to the wildlife that life in the sea and the shore, to keep the sea and shore clean. To respect it.
