Fringe 2019: Loud Poets: Best of Fringe

Name of your show:
Loud Poets: Best of Fringe

How would you describe your show in one sentence?
The very best spoken word poets the country has to offer, presented with our unique fist-thumping, pint-drinking, side-tickling, heart-wrenching style.

Is this the first time that you are performing at the Fringe?
No, this is actually our 6th run at Edinburgh Fringe. We’ve been very lucky to work with the Scottish Storytelling Centre through all of it.

What do you think sets your show apart from all the other Festival offerings?
The big thing setting us apart this year is our absolutely incredible line-up, we have 69 of the very best poets from the UK and beyond. This show is hopefully going to shine a much needed spotlight on the spoken word section of the Fringe.

The Centre’s Fringe showcase is exploring and reacting to the challenges we face in today’s world by sharing stories in all their forms – what is your show saying?
The spoken word section of the Fringe is easily the smallest section, and poetry shows can often get lost in amongst the thousands of comedy shows. Our show isn’t ‘saying’ anything… It’s SHOUTING! Our section might be small, but it is the best of Fringe!

How do you #MakeYourFringe itinerary? What’s the show that you don’t want to miss?
Without a doubt it’s ‘This Script’ by Jenny Lindsay. We’ve worked a lot with Jenny over the years, and she is easily one of our favourite performers. Her new show ‘This Script’ has been a huge and important undertaking for her, and we cannot wait to see the finished article!
