Fringe 2018: Q&A with Mamoru Iriguchi on EATEN

How would you describe your show in one sentence?

Eaten is a really funny yet educational show about food, food chains and digestion, starring a big cuddly lion called Lionel McLion.

Is this a new show or have you performed it elsewhere?

We performed this show in many places including Edinburgh International Science Festival, Istanbul Comedy Festival, Take Me Somewhere Festival (Glasgow) and Rise Festival (Findhorn).

Is this your first visit to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe?

No

How many times have you performed at the Fringe before?

3 times

What’s your favourite thing about the Fringe?

 It’s so international and multicultural.

How have you been preparing for the Fringe? How has the show developed/changed since your original idea?

It’s going very well. We have been touring Eaten this spring, and the show has become better and better through meeting so many children.

What do you think sets your show apart from all the other Festival offerings?

I cannot think of any other piece that offers a big cuddly lion and a big cuddly poo packed in one show! It’s also nominated for CATS (Critics’ Award for Theatre in Scotland) for Best Production for Children and Young People!

What’s the show that you don’t want to miss at this year’s Fringe?

Eaten, obvs! But other than that, there are two great shows at the Scottish Story Telling Centre. Andy Cannon’s ‘Is This a Dagger?’ and Alice Mary Cooper’s ‘Waves’!

If your show was a place in Edinburgh, which place would it be and why?

Top of Arthur’s Seat. The best place for a lion like Lionel McLion to roar!

Eaten
