What Makes a Tune Great?

TRACS

Join us for another workshop asking how some traditional tunes stand the test of time, while others don’t?

Adam Sutherland dissects some favourite tunes to find
out what makes them stand out. Bring an instrument and play the tunes,
or simply enjoy Adam’s entertaining take on tradition.

Adam comes from Errogie, on the south shores of Loch Ness. He is
regarded by many as being one of Scotland’s top trad composers, fiddlers
and teachers. As well as fronting his own band, he is a founding member
of Session A9, the Treacherous Orchestra and Croft number 5. Adam is
also one half of Nae Plans, alongside fellow composer, musician and
Highlander, Hamish Napier.

Adam’s tunes are becoming increasingly popular in sessions all around
the world. His hugely popular tune, ‘The Road to Errogie’ is arguably
the most well-known contemporary reel from Scotland.

This workshop will be held live on the Zoom platform. Login details and
guidelines will be emailed to participants as part of your order confirmation.

We kindly ask for attendees who are able and willing to make a donation
towards the Scottish Storytelling Centre’s work.
