Our Spaces

The Scottish Storytelling Centre and John Knox House have lots of unique spaces where you can host your own event. We’ve had parties, conferences, workshops, arts events, wine tastings and even small weddings taking place in our venue.

Wi-Fi is available throughout the Centre and there is a lift providing full access to all floors of the building, with the exception of the upper floors of John Knox House.

Netherbow Theatre

99-seat auditorium

Perfect for small-scale theatre and music productions, literary events, presentations, seminars and conferences.
Fixed raked seating, high specification lighting, projection & amplification, fitted with an infrared hearing loop system.

The acoustics are truly fantastic with even the smallest whisper being audible at the back. What makes this space
extra special is the large window hiding behind the blackout blind that opens out into the garden.

Storytelling Court

150 people standing
50 seated theatre or cabaret style

A fantastic place to host drinks receptions, ceilidhs & exhibitions. It is a beautiful light and bright space overlooking the historic gardens of the Netherbow, as well as the Storywall which encases traditional tales for guests to discover.

Our Storywall pulls out to create an intimate, partially enclosed space within the Storytelling Court which is ideal for informal sessions.

Up to 35 people

A great space for seminars, workshops & meetings.

It also has a breakout space which is ideal for refreshments and there is a wealth of storytelling books and resources available to borrow and browse for inspiration.
